At first glance they looked to me like partially opened Morning Glories, but then I read they are Jimsonweed, which I have never heard of.
Have a great weekend, Samantha.Doris Sturmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09383495196401230783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4715360212352276597.post-51566713315048594872010-08-13T13:40:57.261-04:002010-08-13T13:40:57.261-04:00Well, I don't know nuthin' 'bout VA fl...Well, I don't know nuthin' 'bout VA flora, but we have something similar out here in SD, called wild cucumber, or Manroot. (I think I sent you pics of it before.) The flowers we have aren't nearly that big, though.

My folks have some growing in the yard. Not by design, of course. It's just there. It grows from a tuber root, deep down in the ground, which can grow to the size of a friggin' boulder.

I love wild cucumber. So pretty.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05738935826660370653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4715360212352276597.post-57086671282042105812010-08-13T10:57:52.844-04:002010-08-13T10:57:52.844-04:00Yay! I just love all of your work.

Thanks for the tip about gardens- my husband said "Whatever that thing is, I bet it's poisonous." How he knew that I'm not sure- maybe just a lucky guess :)Samantha Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11324304321751170433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4715360212352276597.post-86504888113417534642010-08-12T23:52:03.469-04:002010-08-12T23:52:03.469-04:00It's Jimsonweed - datura stramonium
If you do...It's Jimsonweed - datura stramonium

If you do grow it in a garden - be sure to keep any pets away from it. The leaves and flowers of the jimsonweed are poisonous.

I've got some photos of jimsonweed at http://hankinslawrenceimages.wordpress.com/2009/11/18/jimson-weed-datura-stramonium/Patty Hankinshttp://beautifulflowerpictures.comnoreply@blogger.com
