Bug #19: Field Cricket. Very NOISY

My husband said before he went to sleep,
"I want to see a cricket when I get up tomorrow."

I like crickets, too, so a cricket makes us both happy.

(Plus up here, I yet to see any of those big ones that, from far away, look like giant spiders. Ugh!)

I've gotten into a bad habit of doing some of my bugs very late at night. I need to take the time and do them in the afternoons when I've got more creative energy. Save things for later that don't need to sap all my creativity.

I know I'm technically late getting this guy up, and will be late getting tomorrow's up, too- but I'm timestamping it correctly so when I go back in virtual bug blogging time, I can see which bug corresponded to which day :)

It's been super busy this week in the House of Little Bug: A meeting for the fire hydrant project, butterfly housing, Etsy selling and shipping, and other fun stuff.

:shudder: I haaaate crickets. I wish the real ones were half as cute as yours! :-) Lucky for me they are much less common here in Cali than they were in VA where I grew up!

Jess, thanks for the comment! Hope you like the rest of the bugs you'll be seeing in the upcoming days :)

Jessica- funny, I hoped crickets were one of the charismatic bugs that people tend to like. Oops :) Hopefully you'll like my next one!

You have been very busy, Samantha, and it looks like it has paid off. You are getting more exposure and with all your work in the public's eye you're sure to become a celebrity soon ;-)

Nice little cricket painting too!

Keep up the good work!

Thank you Doris! All this business is exhausting! Sometimes the bugs don't get done until 1AM! Then I have to scan them, color correct them, upload them, post about them, stick em on Flickr for my little slide show, upload them to Etsy and make a listing... Time for sleep! Zzzz...

I LOVE your cricket..he is fantastic! They are VERY cute, good luck in Asian cultures, my company's mascot and my hubby's nickname for me...so I am a fan.

Found your blog while looking for info on art fair tents. I am doing a "30" project too. 30 restoration projects in 2 months for a local fair...)reason I need the tent.)
Thanks...glad I found you.
